"I try to discover who they are for them" - Rubenstein

It's all about the journey . . .

MU 104 Class Piano covers basic piano technique and pedagogy in a group setting of 12 or fewer.  Topics include orientation to bass and treble clefs, five-finger pentascales, dyad and triad chord structures, slur and staccato articulation, parallel and contrary motion, dynamic contrasts, and sight-reading.  Exercise and lesson piece reductions are drawn from popular classical piano and symphonic music literature themes.

It is recommended for all majors who wish to bring the joy of piano into their lives. Students with little or no piano background are encouraged to enroll.  It's all about the journey, the joy of self-discovery, and taking the first steps towards an incredibly fulfilling, lifetime artistic pursuit.

Take it to go!

It's all at your fingertips . . .

This online resource provides not only a basic lesson plan, but the versatility to practice at a piano / keyboard with a tablet, smartphone, or laptop. YouTube and lesson videos help keep the material engaging.  In the video above I'm playing a wild piece called Flight of the Bumblebee!

Literally the best piano professor you will ever take. Amazingly talented at piano, he does all the accompaniments for every performance. Inspirational professor. Tailors his private lessons to fit his students. You cannot go wrong with Prof. Yasuda!

Great piano prof! Took for private piano lessons and learned so much more than with any other piano teacher I've ever had. Great with emails, too. Knows what he's teaching and loves it. If you need an elective and want to take piano, he's a great choice.

Jonathan Yasuda is an amazing professor. I took him for a one credit piano class at Worcester State University. I believe he teaches other classes at Holy Cross as well. If you are interested in piano or need a LASC credit please take his class. He is genuine and caring and inspires his students to want to learn piano and read sheet music.
